Tayside and Fife Archaeological Journal

TAFAC publishes a journal annually. The Tayside and Fife Archaeological Journal is a peer-reviewed academic journal covering all aspects of archaeology within the Tayside and Fife area. Our first volume appeared in November 1995, and we’re pleased to present our latest Volume 31 in November 2025, freely available online via this website.

Originally produced as printed journals, TAFAJ Volume 1 (1995), Volume 2 (1996), Volume 3 (1997), Volume 4 (1998), Volume 5 (1999), Volume 6 (2000), Volume 8, Volume 11 (2005), Volume 12 (2006), Volume 13 (2007), Volume 14 (2008), Volume 15 (2009), Volume 16 (2010), Volume 17 (2011), Volume 18 (2012), Volume 19/20 (2014) and Volume 21/22 (2016) are available in full on this site and may be freely downloaded.

Volume 7, Volume 9 and Volume 10 are partly available – we’re still working to complete the set! There is a cumulative index for Volumes 1 to 10.

Volume 23 (2017), Volume 24 (2018), Volume 25 (2019), Volume 26 (2020), Volume 27 (2021), Volume 28 (2022), Volume 29 (2023), Volume 30 (2024) and Volume 31 (2025) are available online only and are free to access and download from this site.

Newsletter

The Committee also publishes a regular Newsletter. Edited by John Sherriff, back issues from 2007 to 2026 are all available, covering everything from milestones and boundary markers to current excavations in Tayside and Fife.

Perth High Street Fascicules

We also publish the Perth High Street Excavation, available as four separate Fascicules.   Fascicule One, Fascicule Two, Fascicule Three and Fascicule Four are available to download as separate chapters, free to access. All four Perth High Street Fascicules are currently still in print and can be obtained by contacting us here.

TAFAC Monographs

The Committee also publishes occasional Monographs.  Out-of-print titles on St Monans, Perth, Dundee, Isle of May and First Contact are available free to access.
